Chatgpt default assistant for Android: Android users now have more flexibility when choosing their digital assistant, as ChatGPT can officially be set as the default assistant app. Previously, Google’s Gemini AI had an edge due to its seamless integration, making it easier to trigger. However, with the latest v1.2025.070 beta update, ChatGPT users can now launch the AI assistant just as easily.
Chatgpt default assistant setting
By setting ChatGPT as the default assistant, users can activate it using familiar gestures—long-pressing the home button (for three-button navigation) or swiping up from the bottom corner (for gesture navigation). Additionally, if enabled, the power button can also be used to launch it. This update directly opens ChatGPT’s voice mode, though its capabilities may still feel limited compared to alternatives like Perplexity AI.
One limitation remains: ChatGPT still cannot be activated using a custom hot word. Unlike preinstalled assistants that have access to privileged system APIs, ChatGPT lacks this functionality.
Despite this, the update is a significant step forward, making it much more convenient for Android users to access ChatGPT on their devices.
