Google Play Store May Soon Get a Download Manager
Google Play Store might soon introduce a new Download Manager that helps users keep track of recently installed apps they haven’t opened yet. This feature aims to make it easier for users to find and launch newly downloaded apps.
While the Play Store remains a top app discovery platform for Android users, keeping track of installed apps can sometimes be tricky. To solve this, Google is working on a Download Manager feature. According to an APK teardown by Android Authority, signs of this feature were found in Play Store version v42.9.16-31.
When activated, the Download Manager will show currently downloading apps and track apps you installed but haven’t opened. Once you open an app, it’s removed from the “Recently Installed” list. However, it doesn’t currently allow users to pause or resume downloads, unlike traditional download managers.
Though not officially available yet, this feature could be helpful for users who often install multiple apps at once. Keep in mind, Google has not officially announced this feature, so it might take weeks or months to arrive, or it may never be released.
Recently, Google also introduced the ability to download multiple apps at the same time, further improving the Play Store experience.
