Samsung Galaxy S25
Google recently retracted a report suggesting that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 would use a MediaTek Dimensity chipset. The report, originally published on Google’s DeepMind website, sparked widespread rumors about Samsung adopting MediaTek chips for its flagship phones. However, Google has now clarified that this was a mistake.
What Happened?
Google’s initial report claimed that MediaTek’s Dimensity Flagship 5G chips were used in Samsung phones like the Galaxy S25. After receiving backlash and confirming the error, Google removed any mention of Samsung in relation to MediaTek in its updated report.
The new version now states:
“MediaTek extended AlphaChip to accelerate development of their most advanced chips while improving power, performance, and chip area.”
Despite this, there’s still a possibility that Samsung could partner with MediaTek in the future. Last month, Samsung’s Tab S10 series launched with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ internationally, marking the first use of MediaTek chips in a flagship Samsung product.
Currently, no solid evidence links the Galaxy S25 to Exynos 2500, and benchmark tests for the Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra show them running on Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets. It’s unlikely that the base Galaxy S25 will ship with Dimensity 9400 SoC.
