Gemini Lives on Samsung. Samsung Galaxy users are in for a smart upgrade. A new AI-powered feature called Gemini Live, which includes Google’s Astra technology, will soon be available on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. This innovation brings a new way to interact with your device using the power of AI.
First introduced at Google I/O 2024, the Astra feature allows users to share their live camera feed or screen with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. By doing so, users can ask Gemini questions, seek help, or learn about anything that’s visible on their device screen or through the camera — making the experience far more interactive and intelligent.
In a big shift, Samsung has chosen Gemini as the default Gemini AI assistant on the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. This means users will no longer rely on Bixby or Google Assistant alone. With Gemini Advanced (included free for six months on the Galaxy S25), users can soon access Astra for more imaginative help.
How Does Astra Work On Gemini Lives?
Once you open the Gemini app, you’ll see a “Live” button at the bottom right corner. From there, you can choose to share:
- Your phone’s camera feed
- Your screen content
Gemini will then analyze what it sees and provide useful insights — whether it’s answering questions, offering instructions, or guiding you through tasks in real time.
Currently, Astra is rolling out to select Pixel devices, but Samsung Galaxy phones, including the S25 lineup, are expected to receive it soon. However, the feature is not yet active on the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, even though users already have access to Gemini Advanced.
The Gemini Live Astra feature could change how users interact with their Galaxy phones. From learning on the go to getting visual help instantly, Astra might become a go-to tool for Galaxy users looking for a smarter smartphone experience.
